COFFEE STOUT New Glarus Brewing Company New Glarus, WI ABV: 5.8% IBU: N/A RATING 81HOPS RATING 2 |
New Glarus’s Coffee Stout starts with a black color. The head is of medium thickness, medium fade, and tan in color. In the aroma you get hit with roasted barley, coffee, vanilla, and a slight burnt smell. Your tongue starts off with a fairly strong roasted barley flavor. Then the beer starts to transition into flavors like dark fruit (dark cherry), and vanilla. In the end the beer takes on the flavor of the coffee. There is a slight bitterness just like you get with a medium roast coffee. The body is medium, and this beer is balanced on the malty side. This beer was reviewed on the Brew4U Show. Snow Day New Belgium Brewing Company Fort Collins, CO ABV: 6.2% IBU: 55 RATING 79HOPS RATING 4 |
Hey, look! A beer poured into my glass and it is a black/ ebony color with ruby highlights. The head color is beige, and it is nice and thick, and slow fading. In the aroma you pick up scents of apricot, prune, a little dark chocolate, earthy and floral tones, and just a hint of sweetness. This Snow Day hits the tongue with a nice roasted grain flavor. As the beer moves further back on the tongue it smoothes out, and hints of dark chocolate fill your palate. In the end you get hit with the grapefruit flavor of the hops. The aftertaste is fairly bitter. The body on this beer is medium. I’m saying this beer is balanced because I feel the malt at the beginning is equal to the hoppyness at the end.
